- 1). Turn on your vehicle by placing the key in the ignition and turning it clockwise until the engine starts. Once the engine is turned on, look under the steering wheel along the left side of the vehicle for a tab marked "Hood Release". Pull the lever.
- 2). Exit your vehicle and move to the front of the vehicle. Search for and locate the latch that was released when you pulled the lever. The latch can be found in the front grille and will stick out quite a bit once it has been released.
- 3). Pull the latch. This will release the hood from its locking mechanism. Place both hands underneath the hood and push it until it is raised to its highest level. Look down and you will find a long metal rod used to hold the hood up. Pull on the metal rod until it is fully extended and place it so that it keeps the hood from falling down.
