    Transfer Your Music

    • 1). Connect your HTC Hero to the computer that has the music you want to use. Plug the Hero's provided USB cord into the port on the bottom edge of the phone and then into a free USB port on your computer.

    • 2). Tap "Disk Drive" when the "Connect to PC" window opens, and then tap "Done." However, if you're using the international version of the Hero, the "Connect to PC" window will not open; you should open the "Notifications Panel" on your phone by touching the status bar at the top of the screen and dragging it down to view the notifications within it; there you should tap "USB Connected" and then tap "Mount."

    • 3). Click the "Start" menu in the lower-left corner of your computer screen and then select "Computer."

    • 4). Double-click the HTC Hero's storage card, which will be displayed and labeled as a drive for your computer.

    • 5). Click "File" in the top-left corner of the window and select "New," then "Folder." The new folder will display, and you can name the folder anything you want, such as "My Music" or "My Ringtones."

    • 6). Drag and drop whatever audio files you want into the folder.

    • 7). Click the "Back" arrow in the top-left corner of the window so you can see the HTC Hero card displayed as a drive.

    • 8). Right-click the drive and select "Eject." Once the drive disappears, you can safely remove the USB cord from your phone.

    • 9). Right-click the drive and select "Eject." Once the drive disappears, you can safely remove the USB cord from your phone.

    Set Your Ringtone

    • 1). Press the "HOME" button on your phone to return to the "Home" screen, if necessary.

    • 2). Tap the "All programs" button, which is the up arrow in the bottom-left corner of the display.

    • 3). Tap "Music."

    • 4). Tap the "Library" button, which is the button in the lower-left of the screen with three horizontal lines.

    • 5). Tap the song you want to use as your ringtone. After you tap it, the song should begin playing. If you have just transferred new songs onto your phone, you may need to wait a moment for the Hero to identify them.

    • 6). Press the "MENU" button to display the available options for that song, and then tap "Set as ringtone."

    • 7). Tap "Phone ringtone" or "Contact ringtone," depending on which you prefer. The former will make the song the default ringer for your phone, and the latter brings up a menu; you then need to select the specific contact you want the ringtone to sound for.
