- 1). Power your television on either manually or with a remote control.
- 2). Press the "Settings" button on your cable remote control.
- 3). Tap either the left or right navigation key and locate the "Quick Settings" or a similarly named option.
- 4). Scroll to the "Closed Captioning" setting and press "Select" or "Enter."
- 5). Scroll and highlight "Off" or "Disable"and press "Select" or "Enter." Closed captioning is now removed from your cable box settings.
