How to Connect an iMac to the Windows Network
- 1). Click "Go" in the Finder menu.
- 2). Click "Connect to Server" or press "Command + K" on the keyboard.
- 3). Click the "Browse" button. Connectible Macintosh computers display with a lighter-blue screen icon, and Windows computers display with a darker-blue screen icon. Additionally, Macintosh computers appear by name whereas Windows computers appear by IP address only.
- 4). Double-click the IP address of the Windows computer you wish to connect to. A user-name and password may be required.
- 5). Double-click the shared volume to mount it on your desktop. This gives read access to the volume. Write access may be configured under Windows.
- 1). Click the "System Preferences" icon in the Dock, or choose "System Preferences" from the Apple menu in the upper-left corner.
- 2). Click "Sharing" under the "Internet & Wireless" category.
- 3). Click the check box next to "File Sharing."
- 4). Choose the folders and permissions you want to share with.
- 5). Click the "Options" button, then click the check box next to "Share files and folders using SMB (Windows)."
