What Is Extension Compatibility Check?
- A user can click on "Tools" and then "Add-ons." In the "Get Add-ons" tab, she can search for "Extension List Dumper" and install it. This tool creates a "Dump List" button in the Add-ons menu that she can click on to display information about her extensions. She can click on the "Works with" check box to see which versions of Firefox her extensions are compatible with.
- Compatibility checks are not always accurate. Some versions of applications may automatically disable an extension that a compatibility check found was acceptable, while another check that report an extension is outside of a version's compatibility range will work successfully.
- A user can disable the compatibility check setting in Firefox by changing the configuration settings for extensions. However, this can cause problems such as data loss when the user starts Firefox as the browser tries to use an incompatible extension.
