The Corel graphics suite, CorelDraw, allows the user to edit image files and create high-quality vector images. There are so many tools available in CorelDraw Graphics Suite 12 that it is often overwhelming. With a few tips and tricks, even new users can edit photos, create business cards, make personalized calendars and many other creative projects. - CorelDraw 12 has the built-in capability to blend two objects along a path to create a transition effect. Select the interactive blend tool from the interactive toolbox. The icon looks like a series of squares which get progressively smaller. With the blend tool selected, click to select the first object, then drag to the second object to create the blend effect automatically. The blend is created in a straight line along the path that you drag your mouse. If you wish to create a freehand or curved blend path, hold down the "Alt" button on your keyboard while dragging your mouse from the first object to the second.
- The "3-Point Ellipse" tool allows you to create an ellipse of any size and at any angle. First, click on the "Ellipse" tool button then select the "3-Point Ellipse" tool. The icon looks like an ellipse with three points drawn on the edges. Click anywhere on your drawing to begin the ellipse, then drag your mouse to dictate the center line, or width, of the ellipse. Release your mouse button and click anywhere on the line and drag your mouse perpendicularly to set the height of the ellipse, then click once more to specify the end point. The ellipse of your determined width, height and angle is shown in the drawing window.
- With the smudge tool, users can reshape the outline of any vector object by dragging the outline inward or outward. To smudge a vector object, first select the "Pick" tool from the main toolbar. The "Pick" took is a white arrow. With the "Pick" tool selected, click on the vector object you wish to smudge. Next, click on the "Shape Edit" button on the toolbar and choose the "Smudge Brush" tool. The "Smudge Brush" tool icon looks like the tip of a cotton swab. Click and drag on the vector object to smudge it. To create an outward smudge, click inside the object and drag your mouse outward. To create an inward smudge, do the opposite by clicking outside the vector object and dragging your mouse inward.
