How to Kill Small Flies

    • 1). Clean your house frequently. Small flies multiply quickly in unsanitary conditions, and the cleaner your home is, the fewer places flies have to lay eggs. Store garbage cans outside, wash dishes after eating and wipe down counters to eliminate flies.

    • 2). Add fly strips near windows and doors. Made of sticky, double-sided paper, flies stick to the paper on contact and die on the strip. Replace strips when they fill up with dead flies.

    • 3). Swat small flies with a fly swatter. Stand quietly and wait for the fly to land, smacking it with a quick downward motion. Pick up dead flies with a paper towel, and wash your swatter after every kill.

    • 4). Spray offending flies with fly spray. Small flies often evade swatting, but are susceptible to chemical sprays. Clean dead flies with paper towels, and wipe surfaces with soap and water to remove leftover residue.

    • 5). Build a fly trap to catch small flies. Mash a ripe banana and place it in the bottom of an empty 2-liter soda bottle. Roll a sheet of paper into a funnel, and push the small end of the funnel into the soda bottle. Place the trap near a swarm of flies, and wait for them to fly inside. Small flies are attracted to the scent of ripe bananas, and will be trapped when they fly in to investigate. Remove the funnel, recap the bottle, and throw it away when full.
