    • Televisions continue to grow and change in terms of quality and clarity. Plasma TVs offer high definition quality with different aspect ratios than normal television sets. Plasma TVs always feature flat screens and derive their quality from their pixels being separated into smaller pixels. Samsung offers several different models of plasma TVs with different features.

    Series

    • Samsung plasma TVs are separated by series numbers ranging from 4 to 8. The 4 Series represents the least expensive plasma TVs with the fewest features, while the 8 Series TVs have the most features and the highest price tags.

    Cost

    • As of early 2010, the 4 Series plasma TVs range from $749.99 for a 42 inch TV to $899.99 for a 50 inch TV. The Series 5 TVs start at $1,299.99 for a 50 inch TV and reach $3,599.99 for the 63 inch version. There are only two Series 6 TVs, the 50 inch at $1,599.99 and the 58 inch at $2,599.99. The cheapest 8 Series TVs begin at $2,099.99 for a 50 inch TV and end at $3,199.99 for a 58 inch TV.

    Quality

    • Samsung plasma TVs vary in terms of picture quality based on their refresh rates. While some of Samsung's plasma TVs do not have high enough refresh rates to be measured, the remainder have either refresh at a rate of 60 Hz or 120 Hz, with 120 Hz being the highest quality. The resolution of Samsung plasma TVs affects their quality as well. Samsung's Series 4 TVs feature 720p resolution, while all other Samsung plasma TVs have a 1080p resolution.

    Inputs

    • Samsung plasma TVs come equipped with a number of inputs that allow users to connect other electronic devices to them. There are between one and four HDMI inputs available on Samsung plasma TVs depending on the model. Other possible inputs include PC input, USB connectivity, Anynet+ input, and Infolink RSS input.

    Depth

    • Depth measures the width of the TV from front to back, and it is important to know when considering how far a TV would protrude from a wall. Sony plasma TVs range from 1.2 inches to 3.5 inches in depth depending on the model.

    Efficiency

    • Samsung releases several plasma TVs that are Energy Star certified, meaning that they are more efficient with their energy than other models and therefore more environmentally friendly.
