    • 1). Remove all items from the porch. Mop the sandstone porch with a dry dust mop to remove the surface dust, dirt and other debris. Repeat the process every other day to keep your sandstone looking its best.

    • 2). Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of cool water. Add the appropriate amount of neutral sandstone cleaner to the water. Each brand of cleaner will have its own specific set of instructions for how much cleaner per water to use. Refer to the instructions printed on the cleaner's label. Alternatively, dilute 1/2 cup of pool cleaner that does not contain bleach with 1 gallon of water. Use this mixture to clean your sandstone porch.

    • 3). Mop the sandstone porch with a sponge mop dampened in the cleaning mixture. Start at the area of the porch that is furthest away from the entrance and mop the porch while moving toward it. Continue until you have thoroughly cleaned the sandstone. Let the porch dry completely.

    • 4). Seal the sandstone porch. Sealing the stone will help prevent stains from absorbing into the sandstone. Dip a clean paintbrush in sandstone sealer and apply to the stone. Let the sealer dry for 24 hours.
