How to Reduce System Idle

    • 1). Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys simultaneously. The Windows Task Manager will open in a new window. Select the "Processes" tab and scroll through the list until you have identified the "System Idle Process" listing. Make note of the current value in the "Mem Usage" column.

    • 2). Run a processor-intensive program. Video games, video and audio files, and CD/DVD burning software usually are high in processor usage.

    • 3). Check the Windows Task Manager to verify that the program you are running is using more of your system resources. The "Mem Usage" value should be lower with the new program using additional processor resources. If the program you are running has not reduced the "System Idle Process," then run a different program until the process usage is reduced to the desired level.
