How to Reinstall Ubuntu in VirtualBox
- 1). Download the Ubuntu installation CD image you want to reinstall, by navigating with a Web browser to Ubuntu's "Download" Web page, then selecting the download options appropriate for the version of Ubuntu you need. A file with the ".iso" extension will download to your computer.
- 2). Look on the left sidebar of the main VirtualBox for the virtual machine where you want to reinstall Ubuntu, then click on it to select it.
- 3). Click on "Machine," select "Settings." Click on "Storage" on the left sidebar, then click on "IDE Controller." Click on the icon that has an idealized disk with an overlaid "Plus" sign to add a new CD drive to the virtual machine. A new prompt will come up; click on "Choose Disk." Navigate the folders to the one containing the ".iso" file downloaded in Step 1, click on the ".iso" file to select it and then click "Open."
- 4). Boot the virtual machine where you want to reinstall Ubuntu. The Ubuntu installer will come up. Follow the prompts as when you performed the original Ubuntu installation. At the end of that process, Ubuntu will have been reinstalled on the VirtualBox virtual machine.
