How to Remove Pidgin From a Taskbar
- 1). Download the latest pidgin-extprefs zip file from the Pidgin Extended Preferences SourceForge download page (see "Resources").
- 2). Open the downloaded pidgin-extprefs zip file by double-clicking it on your computer.
- 3). Open your Application Data folder by clicking "Start," typing "%appdata%" into the search box in the Start menu and pressing "Enter."
- 4). Open your Pidgin profile folder by double-clicking the ".purple" folder in the Application Data window.
- 5). Create a plugins folder by right-clicking in the ".purple" folder, clicking "New > Folder," typing "plugins" and pressing "Enter."
- 6). Drag and drop the extprefs.dll file from the pidgin-extprefs zip file's window into the plugins folder.
- 7). Open Pidgin by clicking "Start > All Programs > Pidgin."
- 8). Open Pidgin's Plugins window by clicking "Tools > Plugins" in Pidgin's Buddy List window.
- 9). Enable the Extended Preferences plug-in by clicking the "Enabled" button to the left of Extended Preferences in the Plugins window.

Click "Configure Plugin" at the bottom of the Plugins window. - 11
Remove the Pidgin buddy list from the taskbar by clicking the "Show Buddy List Entry in Taskbar" check box under Buddy List in the Extended Preferences window. Click "Close."
