How to Fix a Humming Incandescent Light Fixture
- 1). Adjust the dim level on the light. A humming noise is often most noticeable at 50% dim level. The humming should diminish as you increase or decrease the dim level from 50%.
- 2). Tighten the incandescent light bulb inside the fixture. A loose bulb causes the flow of electricity to not be as smooth and therefore creates a humming noise.
- 3). Replace the incandescent light bulb with a rough service bulb. These bulbs can be found at most hardware and home improvement stores. A rough service bulb provides support for more filaments that are thicker than a traditional light bulb and therefore creating less movement within the bulb when electricity is supplied.
