How to Install Speakers & a Stereo on a 2003 Cavalier
- 1). Remove the negative terminal of your battery to prevent electrical shock.
- 2). Remove the trim pieces that are surrounding the dash unit by gently pulling them off.
- 3). Remove any visible screws securing the dash unit.
- 4). Open the glove compartment and remove the two screws securing part of the dash unit.
- 5). Use the plastic tool to pull off the center-dash panel.
- 6). Remove the two exposed screws.
- 7). Remove the dash.
- 8). Remove the screws securing the head unit to the bracket.
- 1). Remove the two screws under the door handle.
- 2). Remove all screws along the door panel.
- 3). Pull of the door panel by prying off the clip along the top edge.
- 4). Repeat for opposite side.
- 5). Unscrew each of the door speakers.
- 6). Replace the two door speakers with your new speakers by soldering the existing wiring to them.
- 7). Reassemble the doors in the exact reverse order that you disassembled them.
- 1). Lower your back row of seats.
- 2). Remove the four exposed clips that are holding the rear dash in place.
- 3). Remove the trim pieces by gently prying them off.
- 4). Remove the four screws that are holding each speaker in place.
- 5). Attach the new speakers and solder the wiring.
- 6). Reassemble the rear dash exactly as you disassembled it.
- 1). Connect your harness adapter to the existing harness.
- 2). Connect the adapter to your new head unit.
- 3). Connect your battery and ensure that all components are functional.
- 4). Secure the head unit to the bracket with screws.
- 5). Reassemble the dash in the exact reverse order that you disassembled it.
