The HTC Desire Z boasts a large 3.7 inch touch screen
The phone has an internal memory of 1.5 gigabytes for storage along with a microSD card slot for expandable storage memory. It is powered by a 800 MHz processor and 512 megabytes of random access memory (RAM) respectively; and runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system with HTC Sense user interface and experience. File sharing and syncing can be performed with the standard microUSB connection or wirelessly with the Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate connectivity offered, which includes wireless stereo profile (A2DP) along with File Transfer and Object Push protocols (FTP and OPP respectively).
The Desire Z is great for social networking, with the People widget which has been upgraded with this latest handset, now showing each of your contacts by picture, latest Facebook status or tweet, and also if they have sent you a text message or you missed a call from them. Photos and videos can be instantly shared with friends through the social networks, and also on Flickr or YouTube. Tweeting is also made easy with the Peep application which seamlessly integrates Twitter into the handset and user interface.Â
Another new feature is HTCSense.com which you can register on, and register the phone on. It allows you to remotely manage the handset, and stores all of the messages you have ever sent and received. If the phone is lost or stolen you can sign in to the website to track it via GPS, lock it from use, and erase all its data. The handset has an internal GPS antenna which is also able to work with the Locations and Maps applications in providing instant maps and navigation services wherever you roam, without the roaming charges.Â
The phone has an impressive 5 megapixel camera with flash and auto focus as well as face detection capability. Video recording is in High Definition (HD) at 720 pixel resolution, and videos can be played back through a connection on a bigger screen, or shared via Bluetooth, messaging or social networks. Both images and videos have automatic Geotagging providing the location of where they were captured to add further information about your media.Â
