How to Install Windows XP Along With Fedora 7
- 1). Insert the Windows XP install disc into the computer and boot from the install CD. When the message saying "Press any key to boot from CD" appears, press a key.
- 2). Press "F6" on the next screen if you need to install an SCSI or RAID driver. Otherwise ignore this screen.
- 3). Press "Enter" to begin setting up Windows XP on the "Welcome to Windows" screen.
- 4). Press "F8" to accept the Windows license agreement. The next window gives the option to repair or install Windows.
- 5). Press the "Esc" key to install Windows.
- 6). Use your arrow keys to highlight the bottom partition listed in the Partition Manager. Some computers will have only one partition listed here, while other computers will have several. Follow the menus to delete all partitions listed here, beginning from the bottom and working your way to the top.
- 7). Press "C" to create a new partition. The partition size will be listed in megabytes, with 1,024 megabytes equal to one gigabyte. The number auto-populated in the partition size is the size of your entire hard drive. Enter a number here that is at least 10,240 megabytes smaller than your actual hard disk to allow for installation of Fedora Linux 7. Press "Enter."
- 8). Press "Enter" to select the newly created partition to install Windows XP.
- 9). Follow the on-screen instructions to format the partition and complete the install of Windows XP.

Remove the Windows XP install disc from the computer and replace it with the Fedora 7 install DVD. - 11
Instruct Windows XP to shut down by going to "Start" and then "Shut Down." - 12
Restart the computer, allowing the machine to boot from the Fedora 7 DVD. - 13
Press "Enter" to begin installing Fedora 7 in graphical mode. - 14
Press "Enter" on the next screen to test the disc if desired. If not desired, press "Tab" then "Enter" to skip the media check. - 15
Use the up/down arrow keys to select your keyboard type and press "Enter." The graphical splash screen will now appear. - 16
Place a dot in the radio button beside "Install Fedora Core" and then press "Next." The Fedora 7 partition manager will appear. - 17
Choose the selection in the drop-down menu that says "Use free space on selected drives and create default layout." This command tells Fedora 7 to install itself in the space you left unused when installing Windows XP. - 18
Click "Next" to continue. A warning message will appear asking you to verify your choice. Click "Yes" to continue. - 19
Follow the on-screen instructions to finish installing Fedora 7. Reboot as needed to finish the installation.
