Are Floors Insulated in Modular or Premanufactured Homes?
- Section B on page 150 of the Code of Federal Regulations states that in order to provide uniform heat transmission in manufactured homes, spaces in walls, floors and ceilings have to be insulated.
- Insulation in premanufactured homes is placed underneath the electric, water and sewer lines in order to protect the lines from the elements.
- As of November 2010, premanufactured homes must be insulated according to guidelines set forth by HUD in 1994. The guidelines require floors in double wide premanufactured homes to have floor insulation of R-14, R-19, or R-22 depending on what part of the country the home is manufactured for.
