- 1). Wash your hands with soap and water. Let them dry completely. Apply moisturizer and let it soak thoroughly in your skin before polishing your nails.
- 2). Remove polish brushes from their bottles and wash them in a sink to rid them of any hair or debris that could clump the nail polish.
- 3). Shake each bottle of polish to mix it well.
- 4). Apply a clear base coat to your nails and let it dry for 30 minutes.
- 5). Apply the first thin coat of color. Draw the brush from the base of the nail to the tip in a broad, flat stroke. Do the same to each of your nails. Air dry your nails and do not apply another coat until 10 minutes have passed.
- 6). Apply additional coats if needed. Keep each layer thin and even. Again, do not apply another coat until your nails have dried for 10 minutes.
- 7). Apply one layer of protective top coat. Wait 30 minutes before touching your nails to anything. Avoid any strenuous activity for at least one hour after applying the protective coat as the polish will still be a little soft.
