Hi, I¡¯m beauty expert Dana Waldie, at DanaWaldie.com. And today, we¡¯re going to determine how to figure out your eye shape. There are several different eye shapes we¡¯re going to discuss today, and I¡¯m going to start first with the hooded eye, which is an Asian eye ¨C somebody like Blake Lively, for example. The hooded eye is almost a perfect eye to work with, because you can essentially do anything with it. You can put shadow across the entire lid. You can apply shimmer all the way from the bottom right on up to the top of the brow bone. You can also achieve a really great smoky eye. Then, you have a standard eye ¨C like myself. A standard eye is where you can see the entire eyelid while the eye is open. This is an eye shape, again, where you can essentially pull off any look. Next, we have a wide-set eye ¨C somebody like Jessica Alba. Their eyes tend to be a little bit further apart. With this eye shape, you don¡¯t ever want to do a really dramatic smoky eye, anything that¡¯s dark on the edges, because what that will do, it¡¯ll bring the eye shape further out. You want to, in fact, bring darker colors closer to the eye. It¡¯s safer to bring dark colors all the way over here, even. Next, we have a close-set eye shape ¨C somebody like Jennifer Aniston. A close-set eye shape, you never want to do dark shadows that go all the way to the corner. In fact, you want to bring the eyes and pull them further apart. So, you want to apply a lighter shade in the corner of your eye. And then, bring out and do the corner edges a little bit darker, because this will make the eyes draw out and not seem so close together. Next, we have a downturned eye ¨C somebody like Nicole Ritchie. With a downturned eye, you want to bring the dark shadows not all the way to the end of the eye, because that will bring it down even more. What you want to do is apply a dark shadow just shy to the end of the eye, bringing it to about here on the eye, and then connecting it. What this will do is help lift the eye and make it appear that is has more of a upward rather than a downturned effect. Next, we have a deep-set eye. With deep-set eyes, this is something that you definitely don¡¯t want to put dark colors in the crease of the eye. What that¡¯ll do is make the eye appear deeper. In fact, you want to use lighter colors. Light colors bring the eyes forward, where dark colors bring the eyes back and seem more intense and deep. So, we want to move the opposite of that and use light colors only. And lastly, we have a prominent eye. This is a protruding eye, another eye shape where you want to stick to light colors only. You don¡¯t want it to stick out even more than it already does. So, light colors are the best for prominent eye. Alright, so, there you have it! Now that we¡¯ve determined your eye shape, we can now figure out how to best apply your eye makeup. I¡¯m Dana Waldie, and I¡¯ll see you next time!
