How to Restore System 32
- 1). Locate the installation CD that you used to install Windows. If Windows came pre-installed on your computer and you do not have an installation CD, you'll need to burn a system recovery disc. To do this, click the "Start" button, click "Control Panel," click "System Maintenance," and then click "Backup and Restore." Click "Create a system repair disc" on the left pane.
- 2). Reboot the computer and access the BIOS settings by pressing either "F2" or "F10" at the beginning of the boot process. If neither of the function keys allow you to access the BIOS, watch for on-screen instructions on how to open BIOS at the beginning of the boot process.
- 3). Locate the boot order settings in the BIOS. This determines which of the drives on the computer will boot first and the boot sequence of the remaining drives.
- 4). Change the boot order so that CD drive boots first. Open the CD drive and place the recovery or installation disc in the tray. Close the drive and save the BIOS changes by choosing the "Save and Exit setup" command.
- 5). Wait until the computer boots up from the disc. Press any key if the computer prompts you to press a key in order to boot from the disc.
- 6). Choose your language setting once the computer has completed the boot cycle. Select to recover your system from the options available. You can now restore the files in the System 32 folder.
