- 1). Insert the multi plug end of the Wii AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port located on the back of the Wii console. (You cannot use a traditional set of AV cables to make this connection. You have to use the Wii AV cable that came included with the contents of the Wii package.)
- 2). Connect the red AV plug, on the other end of the Wii AV cable, to the red AV In jack assigned to "VCR" or "DVD" devices on the back of the Yamaha receiver.
- 3). Plug the white AV plug into the white AV In jack assigned to "VCR" or "DVD" devices (use whichever assignment you chose for the red AV plug).
- 4). Insert the yellow AV plug into the yellow AV In jack assigned to "VCR" or "DVD" devices (use whichever assignment you chose for the red and white AV plug). Don't worry about the labels "VCR" or "DVD." These labels function merely as suggestions for the type of device you could connect to the panel of jacks located within the selected column. VCR and DVD devices are audio and video devices because they play both video and sound. The Wii video game console is also an audio and video device. Therefore, it's okay to connect the Wii to the AV jacks assigned to "VCR" or "DVD." However if, for instance, you tried to connect the Wii to the jacks assigned to "CD" the connection would be incomplete because a CD player is strictly an audio device. Hence there's no video input jack within the CD column assignment. In order to hook up the Wii to the AV receiver properly, the Wii video signal has to be sent to the receiver.
- 5). Plug one end of a composite video cable (yellow AV cable) into the Video Signal "Monitor Out" jack on the back of the Yamaha receiver. Plug the other end of the cable into the yellow "Composite Video In" jack on the back of the TV set.
