How to Install Wall Ironing Boards

    • 1). Locate an area where you can wall mount your ironing board. Look for a supporting wall stud for a strong installation. Measure to make sure you mount the ironing board high enough for easy ironing. A standard table height means the ironing board should unfold to be 34 inches from the ground.

    • 2). Download the installation template from the manufacturer's website if you don't have one. The template makes installing the hardware much simpler and more accurate. Without a template, try tracing the mounting plate onto a piece of paper and then marking the screw holes, effectively making your own template.

    • 3). Tape the template on the wall, centered over the stud behind the wall. Use your level to make sure the paper is straight or the installation will be skewed. If there are no studs in the wall where you want to mount the ironing board, screw an 8-inch wide, 1/2-inch thick board to span the distance between the closest two studs and secure it to the wall with 2-inch wood screws sunk into pre-drilled holes. Tape the template over the board.

    • 4). Pre-drill the holes for the mounting hardware, making sure to use a smaller-sized bit than the size of the screws for a good grip. Drill right through the paper for exact placement.

    • 5). Remove the paper template and center the mounting plate for the ironing board over the holes. Screw the wall-mounted ironing board into place, checking again for level installation.
