    Picture Quality

    • If the Samsung HL-T6176S suffers from general picture quality issues, such as grainy, blurry or pixilated on-screen imagery, the fault could lie with the TV broadcaster. To check if this is the case, switch to another channel to see if the picture quality problems persist. If the problems occur regardless of channel selection, adjust the orientation of the TV's antenna and/or ensure that all of the wire connections running between the TV and external components -- such as cable boxes, satellite receivers and DVD players -- are secure. If the Samsung HL-T6176S's picture is rolling vertically, this is a strong indicator that a connection problem is to blame.

    Brightness and Contrast

    • In some instances, the Samsung HL-T6176S may produce on-screen imagery that is too dark, too light or unnatural in the way it portrays light and dark colors. As a solution to these problems, adjust the "Brightness," "Contrast," and "Fine Tuning" values within the TV's settings menu. However, if this strategy fails to work -- and brightness and contrast problems persist -- the Samsung HL-T6176S may be suffering from an old lamp. The lamp that projects light inside of the TV has a limited lifespan and requires periodic replacement. When the lamp is worn out, onscreen imagery becomes darker and reduces picture clarity. Another indicator that you need to replace the Samsung HL-T6176S's lamp is that the three LEDs on the front of the TV are flashing.

    Sound Quality

    • The Samsung HL-T6176S may occasionally suffer from sound-quality issues, such as poor sound quality, low maximum-volume levels or a total lack of sound. As with picture quality issues, you can potentially remedy some of these sound issues by changing channels or altering the orientation of the TV's antenna. For low maximum-volume levels, try adjusting the volume levels on external devices, such as cable boxes, satellite receivers and DVD players. If the Samsung HL-T6176S cannot produce any sound, make sure that you have the "Mute" function of the TV turned off.

    Remote Control

    • If the Samsung HL-T6176S's remote control malfunctions or is unable to function, there are several underlying issues that could be to blame. For example, the remote control's batteries could be dead or improperly installed. To remedy these issues, replace the batteries and ensure that the "plus" and "minus" terminals of the batteries line up with the corresponding terminals in the battery compartment. Another issue could be that the transmission window on the upper edge of the remote control is dirty, in which case you should clean off any and all debris from the window.
