How to Remove the Stationary Panel of a Window
- 1). Cut the caulking in between the side stops and the window sill with a utility knife.
- 2). Slip a pry bar in between the window panel and the side stops.
- 3). Pry outward until the side stops come free. Reinsert the pry bar every 6 inches around the side stops and pry them out.
- 4). Remove any finishing nails left in the frame with a pair of pliers.
- 5). Remove the screws holding the fastener clips to the window sill. These can be found along the perimeter of the window panel. Use a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver to remove them.
- 6). Hold the window panel and allow the top of it to fall toward you. Have an assistant push gently on it from the opposite side, if it doesn't fall freely.
- 7). Lift and remove the stationary window panel from the frame.
