How to Wire a Hyundai Car Stereo
- 1). Pull the hood release lever located on the right side of the steering wheel, under the driver's side dashboard. Move to the front of the Hyundai and lift the hood. Loosen the bolt on the negative battery cable with the wrench. Remove the cable from the battery and set it aside. Return to the Hyundai's passenger cabin.
- 2). Pull the ashtray completely from the Hyundai's dashboard. Remove the two screws behind the ashtray slot with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- 3). Grab the bottom of the main dash panel that surrounds the stereo and climate controls and pull it away from the Hyundai's dashboard. Set the panel aside.
- 4). Remove the two screws on either side of the factory stereo bracket with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Slide the stereo from the stereo mounting dock and disconnect the two stereo wiring connectors plugged into the back of the stock deck. Unplug the antenna cable lead from the lower-right corner of the factory unit and set the stereo aside.
- 5). Insert the faceplate adapter into the Hyundai's stereo dock until it locks into place. A universal faceplate adapter will fit; a Hyundai faceplate adapter fits best. Pull the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the stereo dock to the front of the Hyundai's dashboard.
- 6). Plug the two wiring connectors into the corresponding wiring harness adapter leads. See the adapter's manual for proper connection locations.
- 7). Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the outlets on the back of the aftermarket stereo unit. Insert the FM antenna cable lead into the antenna input on the rear panel of the new stereo. Slide the deck into the faceplate adapter until it locks into place within the Hyundai's stereo mounting dock.
- 8). Place the trim panel back over the stereo assembly and climate controls. Press firmly around the perimeter of the panel to snap it back into place on the dash. Replace the screws in the back of the ashtray slot with the screwdriver. Slide the ashtray back into its place on the dash below the stereo. Return to the Hyundai's battery.
- 9). Place the negative battery cable clamp back onto the negative battery terminal. Tighten the bolt on the cable's clamp with the wrench. Close the Hyundai's hood.
