    Potential

    • The 4.2-liter V-6 comes with 96.8 mm bore x 95 mm stroke, with overhead valves, two valves per cylinder and multi-port fuel injection. This puts out 210 horsepower at 4,750 rpm, and 255 foot-pounds of torque at 3,000 rpm. Its compression ratio was 9.2:1.

    Development

    • In 1997 the engine had 210 horsepower that by 2003 had fallen to 202, and the torque was marginally lower too, at 252. The bore and stroke, and compression ratio, remained the same as in 1997.

    Braking

    • Motor Trend magazine's website reports the Ford F150, propelled by the 4.2 engine, could go from 100 miles per hour (mph) to a full stop in 347 feet, and from 60 mph to a full stop in 122 feet.
