How to Restore the Shine on Kitchen Cabinets
- 1). Clean your cabinets about once a year. Prepare a cleaning solution of a strong alkaline cleaner diluted in water for laminate, plastic, painted metal or glass kitchen cabinets. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for exact measurements. Add a few drops of a mild detergent to a bucket of warm water for wooden cabinets.
- 2). Apply the solution to the kitchen cabinets using a large sponge. Wring out the sponge in your sink or an empty bucket periodically. A dirty sponge should not be placed back inside the bucket that contains the cleaning solution.
- 3). Allow the cleaning solution to soak in for a few minutes. This will help the restoration process along. Skip this step for wood cabinets.
- 4). Use a white, nylon-backed sponge to scrub any areas that have visible dirt or residue to further enhance the cabinet restoration. Skip this step for wood cabinets.
- 5). Dampen a rag and use it to remove the cleaning solution residue. Dry with a terry cloth to fully restore the cabinets.
