How to Replace a Door Gasket on a Kenmore Dryer
- 1). Move the Kenmore dryer far enough away from the wall so you can unplug it. Always disconnect the dryer from the electrical outlet before doing any repairs or maintenance.
- 2). Open the front door of the Kenmore dryer and carefully remove the old worn out seal. Hold a hair dryer on high heat about a foot away from the gasket and pull gently if the gasket does not come off right away. The heat helps loosen the adhesive and makes the gasket easier to remove.
- 3). Remove the new door gasket from its package and apply the adhesive that came with it. Paint the adhesive to the back of the seal using the instructions provided on the package.
- 4). Hold the gasket with the adhesive side facing away from you. Press the gasket into place on the door and press it into place.
- 5). Allow the adhesive to dry completely before running the dryer again. Let the adhesive dry for at least 12 hours before you use the dryer. Running the dryer before the adhesive is completely dry can cause the gasket to come loose.
