    • 1). Locate the red and black wires protruding from the outer casing of the distributor. Strip a quarter inch of outer insulation from these wires with the wire strippers.

    • 2). Twist the stranded wires clockwise to minimize and secure stray wires. Crimp a spade terminal to each wire with the crimp tool.

    • 3). Locate the cylindrical ignition coil. Determine the positive and negative polarity on the coil's contacts by examining the embossed indices next to the terminal tabs.

    • 4). Push the red wire to the positive conductor on the ignition coil. Do the same for the black negative wire. Wiggle the spades a little to check for a tight fit.
