Directions for a Messy Bun
- 1). Pull your hair together into a ponytail using an elastic covered holder. The ponytail can be placed high on your head, down near your neck or any place in between. Depending on how casual you want your bun to be, you can brush your hair and make a smooth, tight ponytail, or simply gather it together by hand to form a loose, messy one.
- 2). Take the length of your ponytail and wrap it around the banded part of your ponytail two or three times (more if you have very long hair).
- 3). Feed the ends of your twisted hair into the elastic ponytail holder, leaving the ends loose. The result will be free, flowing strands surrounding your bun. Spritz your hair lightly with hairspray if desired, although this is not entirely necessary given the goal of a messy look.
- 4). Wear your bun alone or with decorative hair accessories. A few decorative options include slipping a thin elastic headband across the front of your hair, decorating your bun with adorned bobby pins or inserting chopsticks through your bun. You can also tease the free strands to create a more "messy" look.
