How to Clean a Sun Visor
- 1). Spray all-purpose cleaner on a rag or a sponge, and clean both sides of the sun visor. Squirt some cleaner on the corner of the rag or sponge, and clean the corners around the mirror. You may use a cotton swab to clean hard-to-get areas. Dry the visor with a dry cloth or paper towel.
- 2). Vacuum the sun visor if it has a fabric cover. Use upholstery cleaner if you notice any spots. Test the cleaner in an inconspicuous area to make sure that the color does not fade.
- 3). Open any compartments on the sun visor and clean the inside with the rag. Some newer car models feature an organizer-sun visor combination.
- 4). Use glass cleaner and a rag to clean the mirror.
- 5). Clean the metal attachment that attaches the sun visor to the car. You may need to maneuver it in various directions to make sure you don't miss any areas.
- 6). Coat the sun visor, if covered with vinyl, with the same finish protector you generally use on the dashboard and on door panels. The finish will prevent over-drying and keep the visor from cracking. It will also protect the color and keep it from fading.
