- 1). Open Windows Movie Maker or Apple's iMovie on your desktop. If you do not have one of these programs, they are available as free downloads on the Windows and Apple official websites.
- 2). Decide which pictures you want to appear in your slideshow. In Movie Maker, click Pictures, select the images you want, and then click Import. In iMovie, search for pictures in your iPhoto library (visible in the bottom right of your iMovie window), and drag the pictures you want up to your project window.
- 3). Drag the pictures on the timeline in the order you want them presented, then browse the Transitions. Having different transitions between photos will help make your slideshow awesome, creating an exciting effect each time you move from one photo to the next. In both programs, you can preview the transition before clicking and dragging the one you choose between photos.
- 4). Add music to your slideshow to make it more personal and exciting. If you are using Movie Maker, drag the mp3 track or tracks you wish to include from your desktop into the Audio/Music section in the project window. For iMovie users, browse your iTunes library on the right side of your iMovie window, and drag the tracks of your choice up to the timeline.
Right click on the track or tracks to trim them or select a specific part of the song. Both programs also offer special sound effects, which can make an awesome scary, funny or cute addition to your slideshow. - 5). Preview your slideshow by clicking Play or Preview, and write down any part of the slideshow that had errors or could be improved. Adjust any problems as necessary.
