Try Book Clubs for Meeting New People

Becoming a member of or starting a book club can be beneficial in a number of ways.
You will find that reading new books you might not otherwise select for yourself will open your eyes to an entirely fresh literary world.
This is an excellent way to challenge yourself if you are in a rut.
If your social life is in a slump, getting involved in a book club provides you with a chance to meet new people and make new friends.
Who should consider book clubs? Newcomers to an area, people wanting to expand their social group, or anyone else seeking to meet new friends.
I'd like to share my experience with you.
I have some very interesting friends and I gain numerous things from each one of them.
But I didn't feel that any of them shared my love of reading.
This prompted me to reach out and seek to join a local book club.
A quick internet search led me to a club near my home that seemed to be just what I was looking for.
I provided the requested information, and the wonderful lady in charge of organising the book club sent me the specifics about the first meeting.
It was held in an attractive and relaxed atmosphere at a combination cafe/book shop where book club meetings were held each Wednesday night.
We munched appetizers from a gourmet cheese platter and drank mugs of herbal tea while we introduced ourselves and discussed our favourite book titles and authors.
Our particular book club was intended for busy people who did not necessarily have time to read a book once a month or fortnight like other clubs require.
We read what we wanted and then came together to discuss it, and exchanged books if we liked the sound of something particular.
The club worked well for us and we rapidly formed strong friendships.
We had a wonderful mixture of people; male and female, old and young, Australian, English, and Indian.
Our book club meetings eventually led to barbecue and picnic get togethers and we all became close friends.
It is easy to look around for a local book club and there are many different options available to suit your needs.
The initial meeting can be a bit difficult, but the anxiety of meeting new people swiftly subsides and you get to network with fellow book enthusiasts.
There is no better way to challenge yourself and find new friends with similar interests than stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new.
If you want to change your life, you have to take proactive steps.
This can be as simple as committing to attend a book club meeting once a fortnight to discuss your book passion with fellow reading enthusiasts.
It can be a noteworthy stepping stone toward positive changes in your life.
Opening your world up to strangers, people you might otherwise never get to know, is a rewarding experience.
It makes you wonder how many potential friends are waiting for you out there in the world.
