Chores Can Be Fun For Your Kids

Are you frustrated because your children will not do simple chores? How young should they be to start doing chores? Would you be surprised if I said that if they are old enough to walk and pick things up, they are not too young?

I imagine you are thinking, "yea, right, fat chance". The trick is to make it fun and start them young. Let's start with picking up dirty clothes. They need a really fun kids clothes hamper to put them into. Like a doggie, or kitty, or elephant. Something that makes them smile and laugh when they look at it. It needs to be easy to open and safe for them not to get their fingers or hands caught in. Then make a game out of getting the clothes into the kids clothes hamper. You want it to be fun so it becomes second nature for them to use it.

How about things like coats, hats, towels, and even backpacks when they get that old? A kids coat rack works wonders. They come in many different styles. There are cute Disney character ones with wood pegs, or ones done with the child's name on it in wooden blocks or even coat trees for the older ones. Let your child get use to doing the hanging up. Hang the coat rack at their level and as they grow keep moving it higher so it is always within their reach.

The main idea here is to make it fun for them. Those animal kids clothes hampers can swallow up and eat a lot of dirty clothes. And I am pretty sure that with sounds provided by Mom and Dad the hampers can even bark or meow, teaching them more about that type of animal. They say that very young children have an incredible capacity for learning and I say, let's make it fun. I love to hear children laugh.
