Do This Now BEFORE You Create Your 2013 Business Plan
Just 2 more months before 2013 starts.
Maybe you're already making plans and setting goals for the upcoming year.
But before you do, it is a good idea to review your current year first.
If you haven't done so already, now is a good time to do this.
The questions in this article help you look back effectively, so you can make some important decisions before you create your new business plan:
Question 1: what stays?
Take a look at all your activities, programs, services, products, and the way you've been running and marketing your business.
Which programs/products/services will you continue in 2013?
What makes you happy and energizes you?
What's working for both you and your clients?
Which programs/services/products still energize you and help you fulfill your mission?
Also take a look at the way you've been marketing your services and programs.
What worked well? What will you continue to do?
And finally, don't forget to take a look at your habits.
Which ones still serve you? Which habits contribute to your success and your happiness?
Question 2: what goes?
What is it you no longer want to do? Maybe there is a program you no longer want to give. Maybe you want to stop working one on one. Or you want to stop selling a product.
It could be that you're ready to say goodbye to a team member or assistant or bookkeeper that you're not happy with anymore.
You might even want to change course completely.
Take the time to really feel what it is you no longer want to do, feel, experience or tolerate.
Everything that doesn't energize and excite you anymore is something to really think about:
Is it time to let this go?
Question 3: what changes?
What do you want to change OR what needs to change to make 2013 your best year yet?
Is it time to start delegating or to grow your team? Is it time to raise your fees?
Is there a new program you want to create, a book you want to write?
Or do you want to (or need to) change your mindset or the way you work?
Try to keep an open mind when answering these questions.
You don't have to know how you can accomplish it all.
Those steps will reveal themselves after you've made powerful decisions and a compelling and exciting new business plan.
For now, just be open and honest in answering all of those questions. You might be surprised at what comes up.
It's important to do this before you make your new business plan.
If you don't review what stays and what goes first, you run the risk of just continuing what you've been doing - even if this doesn't serve you any more

For now it is important to focus on what you want to change, stop, and continue.
Don' t worry about the how just yet.
