How to Remove Polyurethane Coating From Pipes
- 1). Fill a bucket with the urethane remover. If you're using a high concentration of urethane remover, dilute the solvent with water according to the manufacturer's recommendation.
- 2). Put the pipes in the bucket. Let the pipes sit in the bucket until you notice that the polyurethane coating has worn off. Depending on the type of solvent, this could take up to a day.
- 3). Remove a pipe from the solvent. Dip a brush into the solvent and brush off the rest of the polyurethane coating.
- 4). Place the pipes in another bucket of clear water.
- 5). Rinse the pipes for several minutes.
- 6). Remove the pipes and dry them with a clean cloth.
