How to Remove a Radio From a 2007 Toyota Tacoma
- 1). Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the dash mount over the radio. Look to the upper left- and right-hand corners for recessed holes that house the attachment screws. Turn them with the screwdriver to the left to loosen.
- 2). Continue turning the screws to the left until they come out. Look to the bottom left- and right-hand corners of the dash mount for two more recessed screw housings and remove them, too, by turning them to the left until they come out. Place the screws in a secure location where you won't lose them.
- 3). Pull the dash mount off of the front of the truck's panel. Pull gently and do not force it. There may be some stickiness during this process. If so, gently push and pull to get the dash panel off. Set the dash panel to the side.
- 4). Locate the four Allen screw head attachments on each corner of the radio's mounting bracket. The bracket is a silver rectangle that holds the radio in place. Use the Allen key and turn to the left on each of the Allen screws. Do not remove the screws, just turn them enough so you can dislodge the mounting bracket and allow it to dangle.
- 5). Pull on the radio until it pops out of place and exposes the plug wire connectors. Put one hand on each end of the wire plugs and gently pull them apart. Pull the radio out of the housing. Place the radio in a box to be stored or sold.
- 6). Push the dash back into place (or add your new radio first) and screw the dash into place with the screws you had set aside. Turn the screws into the recessed housings and turn the screwdriver to the right until the screws are set firm. Do not over tighten as this can split the plastic dash at the screw holes.
