How to Get Your Hair to Grow Fast
- 1). Clean your hair thoroughly to promote hair growth. Wash your hair with a pH-balanced shampoo at least five times a week to remove dirt and oil, and to stimulate the scalp. Shampoo your hair no more than one to two times during each washing session so as not to strip the hair of its natural oils.
- 2). Condition your hair with a protein-based conditioner for 15 to 20 minutes. Ideally, the conditioner should sit on your hair under a warm towel or under a heated dryer so that the conditioner can fully penetrate the hair.
- 3). Reduce daily heat when styling. Heat can dry out the hair, weaken the follicles, and damage the strands, which can result in split ends. Limit your use of blow dryers, curling irons, electric rollers and hair straighteners.
- 4). Care for the ends of your hair. Trimming split ends at least a half-inch can greatly affect the growth of your hair. If split ends are not trimmed, they can cause the hair shaft to unravel and the split will travel up to the rest of the hair shaft, causing the hair follicles to lose moisture and fall out. By trimming the hair ends, you can stimulate hair growth at the root by leaving room for steadier hair growth.
Apply hair moisturizer to the ends of your hair daily to protect end damage, especially when you must use heat to style your hair. Aim to get your hair trimmed every four to six weeks to reduce split ends. - 5). Maintain the health of your hair by committing to keeping your hands off of it. Hands can hold germs, and can also cause the hair to dry out and create split ends. Before going to bed, wrap your hair underneath a satin scarf--not cotton, which can strip your hair of moisture. Head scarves can promote healthy hair by keeping it detangled.
Gently comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb when detangling and styling. Choose a brush that best suits your hair type so that it won't cause any unnecessary hair damage. - 6). Commit to eating a healthier diet that will promote hair growth. Quality vitamins and supplements can lessen damage if you are deficient in certain minerals or vitamins that contribute to hair growth.
Focus on increasing your protein intake. Protein not only builds and nourishes your body's muscles, but the amino acids in protein are important when it comes to building new cells in the hair. Other important nutritional sources that can grow your hair fast are omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin B, iron and sulfur. - 7). Finally, promote healthy hair and length by reducing your stress. Hair loss has affected 40 percent of women during their lifetime, and stress was at the forefront for most of that hair loss.
