    • 1). Place the cutting mat on a table. If you do not have a cutting mat, you can use a piece of foam or cork.

    • 2). Plug the power cord for the electric fabric cutter into an electrical outlet.

    • 3). Measure the fabric on both sides with a tape measure or ruler. Mark where it needs to be cut with the felt tip marker. Run a chalk line across the fabric and snap a line over the marks.

    • 4). Place the ruler on the edge of the chalk line.

    • 5). Press the "Power" button on the electric fabric cutter. Lower the blade onto the fabric and then move it forward. Stop moving the rotary cutter when you get to the end of the ruler.

    • 6). Reposition the ruler on the edge of the chalk line and begin cutting again. Repeat this step until you get to the end of the fabric.

    • 7). Repeat this process to cut additional pieces of fabric.
