How to Sew an Embroidered Patch on a Leather Car Seat
- 1). Apply craft glue to the center of the embroidered patch and position it on the leather car seat. Place small pieces of masking tape at the top and bottom of the patch to hold it in place until the craft glue dries. The glue will help hold the patch in place while you are sewing it. Allow the glue to dry completely before beginning to sew the patch.
- 2). Measure 18 inches of heavy-duty waxed thread that is color-coordinated to the edge of the embroidered patch. Cut the thread and thread it through the curved needle. Knot one end.
- 3). Enter the back of the embroidered patch with the needle point and pull through to the front. This will place the knot behind the patch and out of sight.
- 4). Place the point of the needle about 1/4 inch away from where it came through the patch. Push the needle through to the other side, catch the leather seat on the needle point and then exit the back of the patch again to the front. The curved needle is designed to make this sewing maneuver easier. Space the stitches about 1/4 inch apart and close to the edge of the embroidered patch where the thread will not be seen.
- 5). Continue sewing around the embroidered patch until it is secure.
- 6). Tie off the stitches by making a loose stitch. But before pulling it tight, pass the needle though the stitch. Repeat this several times and then cut the thread.
