- 1). Use the screws that came with your scale's display unit to attach the display's holder to either a stable stand or to the main unit of the drill press. Do not exceed a torque of 0.002 Newtons on the screws.
- 2). Fit the power cord into the appropriate plug on the back of the display unit. Insert the scale unit's pin-type plug into the slot on the back of the display unit. Finger-tighten the bolts on the scale unit plug to secure it. If your application requires additional equipment to plug into the display unit, plug the equipment in now.
- 3). Attach the linear scale to the moving part of the drill press, not the drill itself, but the part of the machinery that moves the drill. Mounting differs for different models of Mitutoyo scales, but for most you will install mounting brackets and then fit the scale into the brackets.
- 4). Fit the scale unit slider onto the linear scale so the cable from the scale unit to the display does not get in the way of the moving machinery. Some models of Mitutoyo linear scales have the slider already attached to the scale.
