How to Apply Floor Leveler to Wood
- 1). Set your two-by-four board at various points around the floor, assessing the low spots. Make a mental note of where they are and roughly how much area they cover.
- 2). Put an inch or two of water in the bottom of your bucket. Add an equal amount of powdered floor leveler.
- 3). Set the end of your beater bar into the bucket and start the drill. Thoroughly mix the powder and water. Add more powder and water, in roughly equal proportions, until you've got enough to cover the low areas of the floor. The leveler should be a watery consistency, like a thin soup. The exact proportion of powder to water will vary with the brand of leveler and the climate; consult the packaging.
- 4). Pour the leveler first into any cracks, seams and holes in the wood floor. Pour it slowly, letting it spread out on its own and fill the areas.
- 5). Pour more of the leveler over the low areas, pouring slowly and letting it level itself out. If the leveler mounds up at any spot, run the edge of your board over it to flatten it, but generally it should find its own level. Let the leveler set for 24 hours.
