How to Zip a File on the Internet
- 1). Download the Internet file or files you want to compress onto your computer, either by clicking on provided link for downloading or by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Save As" from the menu that appears. Be sure to remember which folder you save the file into, so you can find it easily.
- 2). Open Windows Explorer. You can do this by right-clicking on the Windows button located at the lower left corner of your computer screen. Select "Explore" from the menu that pops up. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + E
- 3). Select the downloaded Internet file or files you want compressed from Windows Explorer.
- 4). Right click the file or folder. Point to "Send To," on the menu that opens up and then click "Compressed (zipped) Folder".
- 5). Right click the new folder, click "Rename" and type in the desired name.
- 1). Click and hold the mouse button over the Internet file or files you want compress until a pop-up box appears. Select "Save As" from the menu and save the file.
- 2). Open a Finder window. You can do this by clicking the "Finder" icon at the dock, by clicking "File on the Menu Bar and then selecting "New Finder Window" from the drop-down menu that appears or by using the keyboard shortcut "Command+N." The "Command" button is to the left of the space bar, and has the Apple logo on it.
- 3). Locate the file you want to compress in the Finder window.
- 4). Control click the file you want to compress and choose "Create Archive" from the Action menu that appears. This creates the zipped file.
- 5). To compress multiple files, shift-click each of the files you want to compress and then choose "Create Archive of X items" from the Action menu that appears.
- 6). Single click on the file and then type in the desired name to rename it.
