How to Replace the Dash Lights in a Taurus
- 1). Turn off the Taurus' engine and open the hood. Use a socket wrench to remove the battery's negative terminal then wait 30 minutes. This will allow time to disable the airbags to avoid accidental deployment when you are removing the dashboard.
- 2). Insert a flat head screwdriver between the upper and lower covers of the steering wheel's column and pry off the covers.
- 3). Remove the four screws above the instrument panel and the two screws below the instrument panel with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- 4). Insert the flat head screwdriver between the dashboard trim and the vehicle's frame on the driver's side. Remove the trim.
- 5). Remove the two screws securing the instrument panel in place with the Phillips head screwdriver.
- 6). Swivel the instrument panel toward the windshield and remove the electrical harness from the back of the panel.
- 7). Pull the instrument panel out of the vehicle. Remove any of the old burnt-out bulbs from the underside of the panel and replace them with new bulbs. Reinstall the instrument panel and dashboard in the reverse order of removal.
- 8). Reconnect the battery to the vehicle and close the hood.
