Are you a foodie, but sort of lazy? I know I am! Or maybe you are not lazy, but you are really busy and do not have as much free time as you would like.
If you fall into either category, you should know that there is an appliance that is designed to make you better use of your time.
Meet the Sanyo rice cooker.
They have a product line that appeals both to singles and couples or small and big families.
Cooking rice is something that can be completely automated.
Did you know that? It is as simple as washing and soaking the rice, then adding a certain proportion of water, and last simply pressing the start button.
It cannot be any simpler than that.
Automation does have a cost, but think with me.
You rice will never get burnt or undercooked again: it will always be fluffy and warm.
Not only you can prepare plain rice, but you can also prepare brown rice, sushi rice and oatmeal.
You can also steam cook chicken, fish and vegetables.
Keep all the vitamins in your food, forget about using oil, and use your rice cooker to help you in the kitchen! Cleaning is far from being a problem.
Both the lid and the bowl are removable and nonstick.
The exterior is also protected against food or water spills, even though this is an electric appliance.
Oh, and by the way, this is a pretty energy-smart appliance too.
Regarding the size of your cooker, they are divided in cups.
Not the American ones, but the Japanese rice cups.
Basically they have small (3-cup), medium (5 or 5.
5-cup) and big (10-cup) rice cookers.
I only have a small 3-cup rice cooker because I live with my girlfriend in a small apartment.
For couples and singles, this is the best size.
To give you an idea on how much rice you will eat in one meal, we normally eat a bit under a cup of rice if we are not so hungry and 1.
5-cup if we are very hungry.
And we eat rice everyday, so I would say we eat more rice than an average person.
Small and big families should buy a 5-cup cooker.
It is surely enough to help you on your everyday needs.
It is also what I used to have when I lived with my family.
In fact, you can even entertain a small group of guests with this size.
Should you find success in using this size of rice cooker, then (and only then) I would advise you to buy a 10-cup rice cooker.
This is as big as having a Chevy Suburban parked on your kitchen countertop.
But it is a very adequate size to prepare a soup or a stew and keep it warm while you are free to have fun with your visits.
If you have an active life in your local church or any other association like that, you could also make use of a bigger rice cooker.
Just make sure to get a ladle made of a material that will not scratch the non-stick material of the bowl.
People in groups can be quite careless, and it is not due to bad intentions or bad manners.
So, now that you know the basic characteristics of a rice cooker, I am sure that you are ready to make a good purchase.
I also wrote a more detailed buyers guide with the best Sanyo rice cookers for each category, I hope you check that out.
