How to Make a Sparkling Stained Glass Candleholder
- 1). Wash the glass candleholders. This will stop any dirt or grime from getting underneath the decorations. Also, you will not be able to get them wet once you are done.
- 2
Mix glitter, water and glue
Mix glue, water and glitter together in the bowl. The mixture should be about half water and half glue. Use as much glitter as you like. Opalescent glitter works best for this project because it is a little more subtle than colored glitter. However, if you are making Christmas candle holders, you may wish to use red and green. - 3
As you progress, the candle holder will become a rainbow of color
Stick the pieces of colored tissue paper to the sides of the candleholder. There should not be any clear glass showing when you are done. The colors can overlap. The best way to glue the tissue paper on is to brush a little of the glue mixture onto the glass, then stick the tissue paper carefully on top of it so that there are as few wrinkles as possible. Then brush a heavy layer of glue over the tissue paper so that it is thoroughly stuck to the glass. - 4). Let the covered candle holder dry for at least 24 hours. The tissue paper should get hard. If it begins to peel up in any places, use more of the glue mixture to cement it to the glass.
- 5). Light a tea candle inside the candle holder. The flame will make the tissue paper glow just like stained glass.
