How to Write Winning Model Car Entries

    • 1). Write legibly. This basic prerequisite is frequently overlooked by modelers of all ages. A judge won't award a First Place to an entry that can't be read. Take your time and write carefully.

    • 2). Make sure that you've got the paperwork done completely and correctly. Be certain that every blank is filled in and that there are no questions about your model based on incorrectly completed paperwork.

    • 3). Define the vehicle you are modeling completely. Make sure you include the car's year, make and model. If there is something unusual about the car, such as the driver or a particular race in which your version of the vehicle appeared, make sure you include that in the definition. An example of a good vehicle definition would be: "1964 Cobra Daytona GT Coupe, Number 5, driven by Dan Gurney in the 1964 Le Mans."

    • 4). Describe only the highlights of the modifications you made to your model. A laundry list of changes isn't necessary, as most of your updates will be self-evident. Make sure you detail the additional materials used along with the reason that you chose them. Try to include information about the real car as you describe your modifications. Your entry will stand out because you included facts and history about the real vehicle, which will show the judges that you've done your homework and are willing to share your knowledge and were brief about the changes you made.
