15 year old Britta Brownlee sings for family"s supper
Interestingly, the beautiful, dark-haired 15 year old girl, whose first foray into public recording has attracted interest from record companies and TV producers, was not paid for her performance.
She is doing it all for her dear (not so old) mum.
41 year old Suzy Brownlee's new book, 'The Littlest Detective in London', hits the shelves in the UK in early 2009, and later in the year in the US and Australia, and Prospera Publishing decided that creating a special song was the ideal way to promote the book.
So 'Run', written by Brownlee, with music by John Bellamy, was born.
Britta, who is a soprano, says she enjoyed the recording process, particularly as she found herself in the same studio that music greats INXS had previously recorded in - Q-Studios in Sydney, which is now part of the Australian Institute of Music.
The song is soft pop, and has a catchy chorus, with a clapping intro that introduces a poem from the book's prologue.
"It was awesome, and really, really nerve-racking!" says Britta of her recording date with destiny. 'Especially as it is quite difficult for me to sing alto - my range is more comfortably high soprano, but I think in the end we did well."
Brownlee's other daughter, 9 year old Imogen, also sings in the video - she is playing the part of the book's lead character, 'Clementine Cordelia Bird.'
But it is 15 year old Britta who is making waves on YouTube, especially with the boys.
"We had to disable comments" says Brownlee, of the YouTube site. "After all, this is a children's book, and most of the comments were talking about how gorgeous Britta is. Of course I don't disagree, but I am hoping that people notice we are advertising a book as well!"
