    • 1). Connect your turntable to an audio receiver if you have not already done so. Push one end of the RCA cable into your turntable's color-coded RCA output ports. Push the other end of the cable into the audio receiver's "Line In" or "Phono" port.

    • 2). Connect the turntable and audio receiver with a ground wire if you want added noise reduction. Wrap the ground wire around the turntable and audio receiver's ground connectors. Screw the ground connectors down to hold the ground wire into place. You may skip this step if you are not interested in added noise reduction or do not have a ground wire.

    • 3). Connect the audio receiver to your computer. Push the RCA end of the RCA-to-TRS cable into the "Line Out" or "Phono Out" port on the receiver. Push the TRS end of the cable into your computer's "Line In" port. You may instead attach an RCA-to-TRS adapter onto an additional RCA cable if you do not have an RCA-to-TRS cable.

    • 4). Load your record onto the turntable as desired.

    • 5). Open your audio recorder software. If you do not have such a program already, some are available for free on the Internet, such as Audacity. Push the audio recorder software's "Record" button. Push "Play" on the turntable immediately to minimize silence at the start of your digital recording.

    • 6). Push "Stop" on your audio recorder software when the record ends. Stop the turntable as well.

    • 7). Save the recording as a new digital file. Click "Save As" from your audio recording software menu bar's "File" tab. Name the new file and select a digital file format such as MP3 or WAV.
