    • 1). Create an account at www.facebook.com. Facebook allows you to search for people using first or last name, location, college, high school, business network and/or graduation year. Facebook is the largest social networking site in the world. This is a good place to start your search.

    • 2). Create an account for yourself at www.myspace.com, and search this site as well. MySpace is the second largest social networking site in the world. There's a chance that if the person you are looking for isn't on Facebook, she may be on MySpace. MySpace has the same basic people-searching features as Facebook.

    • 3). Sign up at classmates.com. This website differs from Facebook and MySpace in that it is primarily used for connecting with old classmates. However, if you know enough information about the person you are looking for, you may be able to locate him here.

    • 4). Go to Twitter, another useful website for use in the search for an old friend. You don't even have to tweet. You needn't open a Twitter account to search its users. Go to twitter.com and type the name of the person you are looking for into the search engine. If you do find that person, you must then create an account to contact them via Twitter.

    • 5). Try LinkedIn.com, which is not a traditional social networking site but has a lot of useful contact information for millions of people. LinkedIn lists business profile information for professionals. LinkedIn offers the search before sign-up feature as well, but you must have an account to actually contact other members.
